Get Ready

The ICCOC is moving to a new learning management system, Canvas, beginning with the Fall 2017 semester.  We are excited about this change, and we hope that students will enjoy the clean, easy and flexible environment that Canvas will offer in your learning experience.

Accessing Your Online Class

Students will access their online courses through their college's portal and will use the login credentials provided to them by their college.

Students enrolled through Southwestern Community College will access their online courses through the ICCOC Canvas portal at or .

If you cannot access your online courses, please contact your home college's help desk  for assistance.

Canvas Supported Browsers


After you log in through your college portal or the ICCOC's portal, you will see your Canvas Dashboard.  The Dashboard helps you see what is happening in all your courses and allows you to figure out what to do next.
On your Dashboard, you will find:​
  • Course Cards for all of your current courses or courses you have "starred;" All courses can be seen under the Courses tab
  • Global announcements (for all students)
  • Global activity stream that shows recent activity in all of your courses
  • Link to your calendar

Account Settings & Notification Preferences

In Canvas, you will be able to do the following:

  • Upload a picture or avatar to your profile
  • Add additional email addresses
  • Add your cell phone number to receive text messages
  • Set your notification preferences

Student Ethics

All students agree to abide by the ICCOC Student Ethics Agreement .

Proper Communication

Please remember to use proper written communication skills when sending email messages to faculty and staff:
  • Use complete sentences, capitalization and punctuation
  • Reference the course in which you are enrolled
  • "Sign" your messages with your first and last name

Concerns About Your Instructor

The ICCOC's process for handling sudents' concerns about instructors are as follows: 
  1. Communicate with your instructor to try and resolve the issue.
  2. If you are not satisfied with the instructor's decision or response, contact the Dean or Director of Distance Learning  at your home college to express your concern.
  3. The Dean or Director of Distance Learning  at your home college will contact the instructor or the instructor's Dean/Director of   Distance Learning.
