ONLINE INSTRUCTOR JOB RECOMMENDATIONS

Teach assigned classes during assigned class dates.

Contact students on, or before, the first day of class. Let students know how often you will check your email and/or voice mail. Let students know when you will not be responding or checking voice mail and email at stated times.

Provides students with online course syllabus on the first day of class. This should include course requirements, course outline with dates, learning objectives, assignments and grading criteria, office hours, contact numbers, textbooks and other important information.

Conduct appropriate and frequent evaluations of student performance. Evaluations of student performance may include a variety of tools, including but not limited to, exams or quizzes, participation in discussions, student projects, lab exercises, etc. Student performance is evaluated during the semester and feedback is given frequently. Students are aware of the level of their performance throughout the semester.

Assign and submit grades based on standard criteria. The criteria must be applied consistently according to ICCOC guidelines, and those that are reflected in the course syllabus.

Establish and keep posted contact times. Let your students know how often you will listen to voice mail or read your email. Let students know how quickly you will respond to their questions. Provide a weekly email to students to encourage them and give them continuous feedback of weekly activities.

Maintain professional skills appropriate to the teaching assignment.

Go through the eCollege online tutorials for instructors.
Additional Elements
1. Assist and advise your online students.
2. Review and recommend program textbooks and/or materials.
3. Assist in program articulation with other colleges
and schools.
4. Assist with program accountability and effectiveness reports and reviews.
5. Attend job related meetings as appropriate.
